Hi folks,

This just came in on the wires.  Jawanza and Jason from VOCAL-NY will be leading a discussion today (Sat) at 4pm at the City Hall occupation that's been going on the last couple weeks in Abolition Square aka the southern part of City Hall Park.

Here's a description of the discussion....

LECTURE SERIES:4PM/Abolition Square "HIV/AIDS and the Movement for Black Lives: How oppression manifests in disease."
Let's discuss the impact of anti-black racism, capitalism, and other driving factors that make HIV a disease that targets low-income black and brown folks. Let's learn what we can do about it.

This is the occupation by local grassroots groups fighting for NYPD police reform.  At least 2 ACT UP members (people who've been to 3+ meetings) have been in the park every day and are sometimes sleeping there overnight with other protesters.

Attached are pics and here's some coverage of the occupation:

Hopefully some ACT UP people can make it down tomorrow to support.

WHAT:   HIV/AIDS and the Movement for Black Lives
WHEN:  Today (Sat.) at 4pm
WHERE:  Abolition Square aka southern tip of City Hall Park
DIRECTIONS:  4,5,6 to Brooklyn Bridge City Hall; J,Z to Chambers St.; R to City Hall
